Only 31% (230/728) of Covid hospitalizations in Massachusetts are/were actually due to Covid; why was this not told to the public or nation before?

Coronavirus in Massachusetts: 5,576 new COVID cases, 16 deaths as metrics rise

“State health officials reported 728 people in hospitals with coronavirus, though just 230 of them are actually in because of the virus, with the rest there for an unrelated reason and then testing positive.”

Full disclosure with this information would have made the case for the necessity for mass vaccinations to keep the hospitals from being over-run because they were already full of Covid patients.  It is clear that vaccines do not stop transmission.  Hospitals are not over-run with Covid patients that are actually there because of Covid.  The ones that are there because of Covid now seem to be mostly vaccinated anyway, and some of them may be in the hospital because the vaccine backfired compromised their immune response.
