Autophagy due to intermittent fasting, fasting in general, allows your pancreas & liver some downtime, to refresh, rejuvenate, helps clean out the cellular 'trash'; fasting may help with 'long COVID'
by Paul Alexander
autophagic process can act as mechanism to keep homeostatic balance & support cell survival; it can also cause cell death directly or indirectly; helps with spike protein damage, Alzheimers, cancers
As an essential process to maintain cellular homeostasis and functions, autophagy is responsible for the lysosome-mediated degradation of damaged proteins and organelles, and thus misregulation of autophagy can result in a variety of pathological conditions in human beings. Although our understanding of regulatory pathways that control autophagy is still limited, an increasing number of studies have shed light on the importance of autophagy in a wide range of physiological processes and human diseases.

Autophagy is a natural, self-preservation mechanism whereby the body removes damaged or dysfunctional parts of a cell and recycles other parts toward cellular repair.
Autophagy is the body’s way of cleaning out damaged cells, in order to regenerate newer, healthier cells, according to Priya Khorana, PhD, in nutrition education from Columbia University.
